AVG vpn provides a solid selection of features for a reasonable price. It does not keep any records of its activities however it does use the OpenVPN protocol to shield users. It lets you access Netflix US, BBC iPlayer and Hulu. It also has about eight P2P servers for torrenting. The program has a clean and clutter-free interface. You can set it to automatically connect to the VPN whenever you connect to a wi-fi connection or manually select which networks it should connect to. To do this, open the Network Security menu within the app and then click the Edit Networks button. You can choose which wi-fi networks you want the VPN to connect to and activate or disable the automatic connection at startup feature.
AVG Secure VPN is not the most reliable choice on the market due to a few serious weaknesses. The first is that its server network is relatively small. In our tests, we were allowed to stream Netflix on four of five of its special streaming servers. In addition, some of its servers were blocked by Netflix for unknown reasons.
AVG Secure VPN doesn’t provide monthly pricing plans. It only offers yearly subscriptions. This makes AVG Secure VPN more expensive than its competitors that offer cheaper monthly subscriptions. The customer support channels are also limited and not very helpful. We recommend looking at other alternatives, such as Surfshark ExpressVPN or NordVPN.
